Annual celebrations: the famous brazilian carnival
November 9, 2009
One of the great annual events in Brazil, is the famous Carnival. It is celebrated generally in February, but the dates change every year. There are different Brazil Carnivals, in example you have the most famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival (Carnaval) which the main event is the Samba School Parade with the luxurious samba schools, costumes and hot brazilian queens. Also, you have the Salvador Bahia carnival which is very different from Rio carnival, in Salvador the main event is the parade of the “trios eletricos” (moving speaker trucks with bands playing on the stages atop them) along the streets with thousands of visitors. Another brazilian carnival is celebrated in the city of Recife,do not include competitions between parade groups. Big groups in magnificent parades dance side by side with improvised others. The Brazilian Carnival starts on Saturday and ends on Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras.
Carnival is the peak holiday season in Brazil. Offices and businesses close during the festivities.
